For "Writing and Research Guide for High School Students" Summer Workshop 2013 and beyond:

Workshop Description

Update and create interdisciplinary writing and research guidelines that all students can use for projects across disciplines. The guide will identify and encourage inquiry skills identified in the Common Core and American Association of School Librarians Standards for 21st Century Learners. Teachers from English, History, Science, Math, Special Education and TEC will participate.

Workshop Goals:

-- Increase interdisciplinary cooperation.

-- Develop common vocabulary to use across the disciplines.

-- Standardize presentation to students of what constitutes plagiarism, bibliography, and formatting so students can use those techniques across disciplines  (part of our product--this is found in student handbook, noodletools,  we do the formatting portion through Teacher Web)

-- Enhancing Student Support Services for larger research/writing assignments.

-- Define and encourage inquiry skills for students to develop during the research process. We will use Common Core and American Association of School Librarians Standards for 21st  Century Learners to do this.

-- Teach students how to use technology effectively and efficiently in the research process.  

-- Start creating basic techniques on Research Guide
